Virgo Full Moon In Pisces

What are you dreaming of? This is the moon of inspired visions!

Also know as the Full Harvest Moon, this is the moon that provided light for final crops to be harvested before the invention of machinery with portable lighting. The Full Harvest Moon is the harbinger of fall, coming right before the Autumnal Equinox which happens on Monday, September 23rd. When this full moon comes it is truly time to start thinking about the getting the fall season underway. Pumpkin Spice anyone?

During the Full Moon, the sun stands opposite in the sky to the moon.  So if you’re out looking at the beautiful moon tonight, you will know that the sun is directly behind you. In the Eastern Time Zone the Full Moon will be visible late on Friday, September 13th, but it actually reaches its fullest peak at 12:35 a.m. EST on Saturday morning.  The Sun is in Virgo this month and it is positioned against its opposite, the moon in the sign of Pisces.  Pisces is a water sign.  Pisces energy is soft, fluid and intuitive. It is represented by the picture of two fish swimming in opposite directions. Let’s learn the characteristics of Pisces and Virgo.

Pisces is the:

  • Mystic
  • Dreamer
  • Idealist
  • Sensitive
  • Humanitarian
  • Holistic

Virgo on the other hand is an earth sign. And it is the detail-oriented organizer.  It is represented by the picture of the virgin, the purest of all feminine archetypes. Virgo is nurturing (in an analytical way), loves plants and animals and to serve others.

Virgo energy is that of the:

  • Perfectionist
  • Serving
  • Analytical
  • Methodical
  • Refined
  • Precise

So when these two come together- what does it mean?  Picture a camera lens that can move in and out of small detailed focus and then into far away, big picture focus.  That’s the energy.  The ability to move back and forth between organization/precision and our bigger dreams and ideas.  The moon does brings home, family, and close relationships into focus. Both are also mutable signs this month, which means they can change their mind a lot!  They are both flexible and can go with the flow.  They are also water and earth.  When you put earth and water together…they grow things (like flowers). :))

Now a little lesson on Modes…Mutable is one of three MODES or qualities of the signs (either Mutable, Fixed, or Cardinal).  All zodiac signs correspond to one of these three qualities.

Mutable energy is:

  • Adaptable
  • Versatile
  • Multi-tasking
  • Personable
  • Serving
  • Easily influenced
  • A little Scattered
  • Transfers Energy

Virgo, Pisces, Sagittarius, and Gemini all are mutable-mode signs.  Modes can tell us whether the energy is initiative (Cardinal signs), steadfast (Fixed signs), or adaptable (Mutable signs).

Right now we have 7 planets in the Mutable quality!  So lots of adaptability and change is available in the heavens.  Are you feeling a little scattered?  No worries, it’s just the energy right now.  Assisting the mutable, or versatile feeling is the fact that Neptune is standing beside (conjunct) this Full Moon in the sky.  Neptune is lending a dreamy, floaty, softly focused quality to the moon.  Neptune is about magic, intuition, and fantasies and is also a very sensitive and intuitive energy.  It is telling you that you know what you really want, way deep down inside.

So what does all this mean, you ask?  When we have this type of mutability we can try on different dreams, see how they fit, and ask ourselves: do we want to go one direction or another?  The beauty is that we can change our mind!  We CAN start over again.  With Virgo’s power to organize and analyze and Pisces’ soft fluid way of intuition and knowing, we have a chance to bring our dreams into reality.  Neptune is really showing us our dreamy/idealistic side during this time.  Use this energy to really listen to your dreams (both at night during sleep and the dreams that hide in your imagination).  With the focus going in and out between the two energies – acknowledge your dreams to yourself.  Make a list of what you want in the coming months or years – pray over it, meditate on it, develop an action plan to put it into play!  Virgo CAN manifest what Pisces dreams.

So what are you dreaming of? For the next two weeks you really can make it happen! The Full Moon energy says so…

Also, don’t forget that during a Full Moon it is a time to:

  • Charge your crystals and cards to purify them.
  • Take a bath in the moonlight and recharge your own energy!
  • Focus on a new health routine (Virgo and Pisces love holistic care, supplements, cleanses, herbs, etc.)

Here’s wishing you the best of what the moon has to offer this month.

Love & Light,

Jen B

Aquarian Full Moon: Consider the Collective

Did you see the moon coming out last night? This month we have a full moon in Aquarius on Thursday, August 15th (officially full at 8:31 a.m.). It is known as the “Full Sturgeon Moon” among the Northeast and Great Lake American Indian tribes, who followed the moon cycles and worked by moonlight to harvest their crops, such as the sturgeon fish during this season.

The Sun is in Leo, which is a fire sign (think energy, passion, excitement) and the Moon is in Aquarius, an air sign (think intellectual, talkative, open-minded). When fire and air combine, there is great energy — like a growing campfire in the wind. Fire and air energy nicely complement each other.

During a full moon the physical location of the moon is exactly opposite in the sky across from the sun. So if you are standing and looking at the moon, the sun would be directly behind you. This configuration is called an “opposition” in astrological terminology. It just means they are opposite in the natal chart (or the sky) across from each other. And these two signs, even though complementary, are opposite of each other in personal characteristics.

See the red line going across the middle of the natal chart between the moon on the right and the sun on the left? This is the line showing opposition. And this is where the planets are in the sky right now too.

Aquarius is the rebel, needs freedom, and stands out from the crowd. The Aquarian would say “Don’t tell me what to do!” when any bossiness comes their way. They have eccentric ideas, can be a little weird, and they have lots of thoughts and ideas that are different from the status quo. The Aquarian can be a little detached emotionally, and observes others first, rather than letting their own feelings be known. This is because they care deeply, and don’t want to be hurt — but their caring is at a humanitarian level, and they are thinking about how to best serve the collective, the group, the whole family, rather than just their closest relationships.

The Leo on the other hand wants to be liked by everyone. They want your approval. They want you to care about them. They follow the rules and expect everyone else to do the same. Leo naturally sets the tone and has no problem in giving directives or being the first one to take a chance. They are natural leaders, being able to see the bigger picture, and this tendency can make them overbearing. Leos do wear their heart on their sleeve and when they love someone, they are loyal, protective, and nurturing. Leo can be the show-off and they want everyone to notice this loyalty, leadership, and trustworthiness they provide to their people.

Both Leo and Aquarius are “fixed” signs, meaning that they are known to be stable, dependable, and consistent. They see the bigger picture and are thinking about how to hold stability and routine together in their personal lives and for those around them. They know that steadiness is key to getting the job done. Fixed signs can be stubborn though, and when they have made up their mind, they will dig in and be unmovable. The “fixed” signs are also strong, confident, and self-reliant. Their persistence make them the most to likely achieve their goals, even with a small side of obstinance 🙂

So together this combination is really something…a powerhouse duo! They look at the world differently, but both see the bigger picture and what needs to be done. In this full moon they are calling us to question our value systems and established ways of thinking. What needs to change? What needs to stay the same? What are our goals for the future? How do we get there? With Leo and Aquarius at the helm we are able to see where we’ve been and to think about where we are going. The water-bearer Aquarius is fanning the flames of Leo the lion and together they burn bright with new ideas and the ability to make change!

This full moon is a thoughtful moon. It’s time to go a little internal, to really reflect on your life, your happiness, your future. What do you want? Externally it’s a time to tap into the observer (noticing without judgment or feelings) to see what is really happening out in our world. What can we do to make a difference? How can we help the greater good, the collective? Aquarius gives off a radical flavor too- telling you to be your own leader- to beat to your own drum. Use the creative energy of these two to think outside the box for solutions.

The effervescent energy of Leo, along with 3 other planets (Venus, Mercury, Mars) also being in Leo, helps to amplify the energy. It’s a time to “turn up the volume” and go big! Leo is all about drama — and with the complicated internal emotions of Aquarius questioning everything – Leo is exuberantly saying “Let’s do something about it!” This energy can really be used to manifest some positive change for your own personal “collective”. Maybe it’s for your family, your work group, your neighborhood group, your mom group, your yoga group — this energy is saying let’s make the world a better place to be. And let’s do it big!

The question to ask yourself:

What can you do BIG for your “collective” this full moon season?…

Some other things to consider during a full moon:

  • It’s a good time to charge up your crystals and cards for a purifying effect. Set them out in the window seal where moonlight will shine down on them while you sleep.
  • Make a wish! Write it down, meditate over it. The full moon is the BEST night to meditate for manifestation!
  • Recharge yourself — taking a bath in moonlight can have a purifying effect for your energy too. What a great way to embrace the moon energy by adding a warm bath to your nighttime routine this Thursday night.
  • Tie up loose ends. Finish what you started. Let it go. Any habit, routine, relationship, problem, etc., that is not serving you in a healthy way can be let go more easily during a full moon. Let that stuff go!
  • It’s also a good time to start a new routine- exercise, eating habits, self-care all thrive when started during a full moon!

Capricorn Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse

It’s a two-for-one this month. We have a Full Moon on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 16th-17th. Overlapping is a Lunar Eclipse on the evening of Tuesday, July 16th. An eclipse creates about 3x the force of energy than a full moon. So, if you feel a little off-key or emotional during a full moon – this month is going to be super-charged! You will feel it!

First, let’s talk about the moon:

Our full moon is in Capricorn and is known as the Thunder Moon or the Full Buck Moon. These names come from different Native American tribes and denote events that happen during the July season. We have summer thunderstorms in July, and this is when male deer or “buck” antler’s come out and are considered full grown.

A full moon means that the sun and moon stand opposite of each other in sky. The sun is in Cancer and the moon is in Capricorn – and both impact the energy. Cancer signifies the mother, the home, family, nurturing, feelings of safety and emotional security, childhood, and memories. Capricorn energy signifies the father, is assertive, practical, ambitious, work-driven, successful, and concerned with making money. The polarity or “opposition” between the two creates a highly emotional time but being that both signs are Cardinal – they give off an intense, really productive, manifesting type of energy. So either you feel energized and able to get stuff done or you draw inward emotionally and reflect on the past – what have you left behind, or what didn’t you deal with? Old emotional wounds or scars can come up from the past. Be an observer and see which way the moon impacts you this time around.

There is hope though! We also have Saturn and Pluto in the sign of Capricorn (standing conjunct, or next to the moon) an earth sign, which adds to the grounding, practical, work-minded energy. Get up, go work out, clean your house, do your chores and check off your to-do list. And then you can celebrate! Mercury and Mars are in Leo right now and their energy is full of drama, excitement, the one who likes to dress up, go out, have a party, etc. So, this full moon energy is telling us to do our “adulting”- get our work done, deal with our emotional stuff and then we can let it go and celebrate!

Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn – Let it Go!

On Tuesday the partial Lunar Eclipse happens around 5:30pm EST. Leading up to this eclipse is a feeling of pressure, a building up, and a sense of something coming. With 3x the force of a full moon, we will feel it in some fashion, if not immediately, within the days following the eclipse. It is the last of an eclipse cycle, meaning that the things it brings us will be the culmination of changes that have been happening for the past 6 months.

Eclipses in Capricorn are intense and can bring long term or lasting effects. They are categorized by power shifts in rule-making bodies and hierarchy and affect business of all kinds. They can create power surges and power outages (like the one in NYC this past weekend) and extreme weather conditions (earth sign)- think droughts and floods (like in the Gulf shores right now). All types of order and structure are influenced. Lunar eclipses, in particular effect the emotions, home, family, parenting, childhood, security, and feelings. Lunar eclipses always bring something to a head.

This eclipse, being emotional in nature, is asking us to do a personal inventory, looking inward, and thinking back to old wounds and hurts we may have suppressed or buried. The reason is so we can let it go with the “rebirth” of the moon (as the Earth passes between the moon and the sun). During this passage the light is blocked, creating a “blip” or outage of lunar energy, so that when it resurfaces there is a power surge of new energy helping us to leap over our emotional wounds and finally let go of the past. Releasing blocks, emotional cleansing, and letting go of fears and insecurities are major themes during this eclipse.

Some things you can do to relieve the emotional impact of the Lunar Eclipse:

  1. Think big picture – reflect on the future and the hopes and dreams you’d like to manifest.
  2. Let go of who you were in the past – old childhood wounds and suppressed memories is not who you are today! Each day is a brand-new opportunity to become someone new.
  3. This is a super-charged clearing energy that is built to help release the past. What do you need to clear?
  4. Revelations, flashes of insight, and “ah-ha” moments will come with this energy – use it to plan your next step.
  5. Be patient with yourself and others. Listen to your higher self, your intuition.

Lunar eclipses are known to bring quick results, for some as soon as 7-14 days. For most, within 90 days. You may not realize it is happening until after the fact. Some shift in the way you are thinking or feeling about the past will change. You will be able to “Let it go” and clear the energy and let the emotions of the past that haunt you finally lay to rest.

Reminder: During a full moon is also a good time to cleanse your crystals, tarot cards, and oracle cards. Leave them by a window that is exposed to moonlight. You can lay them out at night before going to bed and they will charge with lunar energy and be fresh for usage. 😊

Strawberry Moon

Early Monday morning (at 4:31 a.m. to be exact) the Full Moon will be upon us. Known as the strawberry moon because this is the season when strawberries ripen in the fields and are ready to be picked- this moon will bring us some sweet energy! The sun is in Gemini and the moon is in Sagittarius. They are opposite of each other in the sky during this time and so the energy work during the full moon window is to find balance between the two.

These two energies together are light, carefree, and communicative. Both signs are playful and love to laugh. They have fun together! They love to socialize and spend time with friends. There are a few differences though. Let’s break it down:

Gemini:

  • loves to talk and express their ideas
  • is fast thinking and intellectual
  • is detailed and accurate
  • play through their words and is the most witty of thinkers!
  • is social, with lots of friends, and increases energy through interactions with others
  • is curious with many interests and they notice everything
  • make great teachers

Sagittarius on the other hand:

  • expresses play in a more physical way and love the outdoors
  • is a big-picture thinker
  • thinks more generalized and can exaggerate a story
  • love to learn and see life as an adventure
  • is freedom seeking and must expand through learning or travel
  • is honest and blunt and will say exactly what’s on their mind
  • is the eternal optimist, seeker, and student

So now you know the characteristics of the two zodiac signs, imagine they are in a blender together – how do they get along and how do they differ? Together they are spontaneous, full of excessive energy with a need for expression, and they could make you feel a little crazy, but in a good way. Playful, light-hearted, and fun loving, this is a full moon energy perfect for the beginning of summer!

Adding to mix is the planet Jupiter. He is standing right next to our Sagittarian moon in the sky. This is called “conjunct” and it means that they act together as one. Jupiter is the planet of expansion, luck, and joy. Jupiter brings us presents and a good attitude. With these energies working together we have the ability to throw off any negativity that may have been lingering with solar storms, the previous moon cycle in Scorpio, or the tension caused by the current t-square in the heavens. Let the good times roll!

If you have any natal planets that are in either Gemini or Sagittarius you will feel this energy even stronger. It can go in one of two ways. Either your social calender will become so full you will barely be able to keep up with all the friends, fun, and picnics OR you will have more of a need for freedom, to talk, to say what is on your mind. So what do you want to say? Is there someone you need to have a honest conversation with? With Jupiter’s good luck and Sagittarius’s courage, you have the power to change your relationships! Be honest and share what you feel this full moon.

You CAN use the energies in the heavens to heal and stabilize your life. This combination with Jupiter at the helm assures that everything will work out. Jupiter wants to give you the gift of optimism and positive expansion in your life. Use the Gemini knack for communication and Sagittarius’s brave heart to do it! Make this a sweet full moon of honest communication. Rekindle the fun and child-like spirit that lives inside of all of us, just waiting to come out and play. Use it to your advantage! The stars have your back. Can you see them?

Did you feel the shift in energy?

The winds of change…

Was it just me or did you feel the shift in energy when we moved from grounded Taurus into Gemini last week. The air sign came in like “whoosh”! on the 21st and I for one have been mentally busy, making to-do lists, networking, socializing, talking non-stop – and basically everything a Gemini is known to do! Old friends have been calling to talk, just out of the blue – and everyone is making social plans all of a sudden. What about you? How are you feeling?

This sign is know as the speedy intellectual, the communicator, and a curious observer. Geminis love to learn and make excellent teachers. Gemini has added air to the heavens for the next month and it can certainly give one the feeling of lightness! Gemini also has a playful “child-like” energy to it – so with the beginning of pool season near, let’s use it our advantage. Here’s a few ideas to put this energy to work for you…

  • Get started! Do you have something you’ve been putting off? Spring cleaning, a new exercise routine, yard work? Phone a friend (Geminis love good company) and ask them to come and help! You get a two-for-one with getting your work done and you can gab until your heart’s content.
  • Plan it. Use that mental energy to do some serious planning. Think summer road trips, family picnics, camping at the lake, etc. Summer is here (almost) and it’s time to make a plan! How do you want to spend your summer? Don’t let life pass you by because you didn’t schedule time off at work. Make that to-do list!
  • Have fun! You can’t forget to add fun to your daily routine. Gemini energy brings a month of playfulness to us. Use this to add a hint of fun into all that you do. How do you like to play? Can you “whistle” while you work? Tap back in to the hobbies you love and find joy doing them!

The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me. My name is Jen and I love astrology! I was introduced to the sun signs when I was a kid and since then I’ve been studying and applying them to my everyday life.  Did you know that astrology is so much more than just your horoscope? I didn’t at first, but when I found that there were so many layers and clues as to why we do the things we do- and they helped me to really learn about myself and my family – I was hooked!

Think about trying to help your teenage daughter pick a college major. The stars can help with that. Or why your son is so sensitive and cries so much? His natal chart will tell. Or why your spouse likes to start projects all the time. Is he an Aries? Or your boss is so bossy? Is she a Leo? It was all there- right in the stars – and I just had to learn how to read the signs! Astrology can help you with relationships, with parenting your children, with understanding extended family, and in the workplace with your peers.

If you think you might be interested in this “woo-woo stuff”, you are not alone. You are about to embark on a journey of self discovery unlike anything you have ever known. Each of us has a life path, and wouldn’t it be easier if we had a road map to help us see where to go? We do – it’s called our natal birth chart- and when you know how to read it, you can learn amazing things! That’s where I can help you. Let’s walk together and learn about the stars.  I’ll show you the way…

The stars and planets are always in motion. You can follow my blogs to learn more about what’s happening in the sky, and you can contact me for one-on-one readings, consultations, and questions. Please stay tuned for more information about upcoming workshops too. We’re gonna dig in and learn how to interpret a natal chart. I want you to see what the sky was like on the day you were born. Wouldn’t it be cool to know how to read it for yourself and for others? I would love to show you how to “see” the stars too!

Peace, love & light,

Jen
